What a brilliant day!
The children dressed in their best WW2 costumes (such as evacuees, soldiers and land girls) and took part in a variety of activities. For their WW2 VE celebration, the children learned about the types of food that people had during WW2 and how this was rationed. They also learned about decorations used during a VE celebration and the significance of the red, white and blue of the British flag. As well as this, they learned ‘The Lambeth Walk’ (a WW2 dance) as part of their PE unit and performed it during the celebration to each other.
