Year 5 American Day

By 8 February 2024No Comments

Year 5 have had a fantastic American Day. They started by using Now Press Play to learn about Harriet Tubman. Harriet was an escaped slave who was the first black women to fight in the civil war and she dedicated her life to getting slaves released.
They then researched and created postcards from amazing places in North America. Next they made American flags and found out what they mean.
During the morning, they all made our burger as the final activity in our week long DT project. The children previously had tasted a range of sauces and roll types before designing and making their final product. They certainly tasted delicious. Finally, they joined together to learn and perform line dancing to Achy Breaky Heart. They have had a fantastic day and we all looked wonderful in our costumes.
