Year 3 Roman Day

By 1 November 2023November 3rd, 2023No Comments

Today, students took a step back in time and became Romans for the day. They had a brilliant time participating in various activities to enhance their learning of this area of History.

Children drew what they believed a Roman soldier to look like. This was brought to life when they met our Roman soldier who came to tell him about what his life was like 2000 years ago! Some students tried on his armour and held his gladius, whilst others keenly answered questions about their composition and purpose. There was even drama involved, with students putting on a Roman performance for their peers.

Students brought in their own handmade shields they made over the holidays. They learnt about how the Roman soldiers defended themselves through shield formations. The children then created these formations with their own shields.

Perhaps you have heard your child singing the Roman numerals song? Children have gained so much knowledge from this day which will be applied to their future learning. What an amazing opportunity for them all!
