Design a Crown Competition
For World Design Day 2023, and as part of our Coronation celebrations, we had a school competition to design and make a crown fit for the new King. World Design Day is celebrated every year to recognise how design makes everyday life both meaningful and beautiful, and we really have had some beautiful entries for our competition. It was extremely difficult to choose the winning entries. As the design element was an important part of the competition, we chose the winners based on their designs as well as their crown creations and, after much debate, the chosen winning entries are:
Nursery – Indee-Rose
Year R – Leo
Year 1 – Evie
Year 2 – Grace
Year 3 – Reggie
Year 4 – James
Year 5 – Maddy
Year 6 – Iylah
The winner for the whole school is: James.

A huge thank you to everyone who has taken part and put so much effort into their designs.

Also, as part of the day we discussed that the purpose of celebrating this day is to mark how design can change the world and we were encouraged to think about our impact as humans on the environment and to understand the important role of nature has on our survival.

We have some incredible designers at Lordswood School.
