Once again we celebrated a fantastic World Book Day here at Lordswood School.
We started the day with a Celebration Assembly, where our fabulous book character costumes were there for all to see. Even our school dog, Otis, joined in, dressed in a fabulous costume! I think Cinderella was possibly the most popular outfit this yearā¦ā¦ā¦or maybe The Cat in the Hatā¦ā¦ā¦..All children had taken on board their class letter, so in Year 5 for example, many Mās could be seen: Matilda, Moaning Myrtle.
Our theme this year was traditional tales, as chosen by our Learning Ministry. The teachers built their lessons around āThe Elves and the Shoemakerā. What a wealth of creativity could be seen, ranging from designing Elf shoes, to comic strips. Such great learning , inspired by a simple text!
Despite the fun and creativity, there were also quieter times. The children all shared in story time with their teachers and were treated to a delicious cup of hot chocolate (or juice!).
At the time of writing, the children had already raised nearly Ā£700 for our amazing āWorld Book Day Readathonā. Usborne books are going to reward us with a super boat-load of amazing books for our children. Get reading everyone; weāre so grateful for your sponsorship support of this wonderful and worthwhile venture.
Obviously, the day would be nothing without the fantastic support of our families, coupled with our hardworking staff team: thank you so very much!
Happy World Book Day everyone!
