NSPCC Number Day

By 2 February 2024February 4th, 2024No Comments

Today has been a Mathmagical Day!

Children throughout the school came dress in their best number outfits ready to learn. They enjoyed the yummy cakes at breaktime and there was a long line of children for the face paints at lunchtime.

The Math ambassadors had decided that children were to focus on measure for the day and their teachers did not disappoint with the array of activities.

FSU did an outside number hunt and created a large clock on the floor. They played ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf?’ and measured their feet and hands using rulers and other measuring tools – what super work!

Year 1 enjoyed their measure challenges: finding objects of particular sizes as well as estimating if objects were longer or shorter than 10cm.

Year 2 had a tremendous time making their mocktails whilst practicing their measuring and scale skills.

Year 3 did a super treasure hunt and made Math games.

Year 5 practiced their perimeter work using chalk on the playground.

Year 6 completed a measure connecting frame and then used their knowledge of conversions to complete a challenge hunt.

A huge thank you to the families for supporting this event. An update will follow with how much was raised for the NSPCC soon.
