During the Mini Youth Games Badminton tournaments at Medway Park, our Lordswood School children showed excellent perseverance, respect and sportsmanship as they all improved their skills and performed better and better as the day went on.

Our Champions Series team were first up and, after a tricky start, they performed very well to move into the quarter-final stage. Here, they came up against the unbeaten St Thomas More team and, even though they gave them a huge fright by going one game ahead, they weren’t able to hold on and two close defeats saw us exit the competition 2-1 and an 8th place finish.

Our Cup team showed all their grit and determination as they fought back from a slow start to play excellently in the second half of the day to get some points on the board. The team were hugely respectful of all the umpires and opponents and could leave with their heads held high.

Our Year 5 Plate team came up against many Year 6 teams in their competition and they got off to a flying start winning their opening three matches. After losing the 4th, they responded with another couple of wins before a little bit of tiredness crept in towards the end. They finished with 5 wins from their 8 matches which is a record they can be very proud of.

Next up will be the MYG Swimming event in January which promises to be an exciting event.
