This morning, Lordswood had two boys, two girls, one mixed and one SEND team participate in the Medway Region GST Hub Competitions against Kingfisher and Saxon Way in Basketball, Football, Infant Agility and Curling.

The Year 6 boys’ basketball team were first and they collected two resounding wins to finish in first place in their competition. This was followed by the Year 6 girls who matched the boys and delivered excellent performances to win their event also.

On the field we had the mixed Year 3/4 boys’ and girls’ football teams. Three Year 3 and three Year 4 pupils teamed up to play two 20 minute football matches. The girls’ team managed to win 6-0 and 13-0 while the boys won 10-2 and 8-2 to both win their competitions.

On the KS2 playground and inside the sports hall, our mixed Year 1 and 2 infant agility team was taking part in their first ever competition. For this team, we had 6 Year One (three boys and three girls) as well as 6 Year Two children (three boys and three girls) to make our 12 pupil strong team. They took part in the javelin, chest throw, shuttle run, long jump, speed bounce and beanbag throw. The little team performed superbly well and managed to win their competition with a full house of points.7

Finally (and for the first time) was the SEND competition where two children (1 boy and 1 girl) from Years 3-6, who have an SEND diagnosis, participated in curling in the hall. They played a brilliant game and managed to win 20-9.

All four of the Lordswood teams have now qualified for the GST National Finals, being held at Oxford University on Tuesday 18th June, where they will compete against the other primary school winners from the three other GST regions around the county. Well done everybody!
