Fire Safety Talks

By 25 January 2024No Comments

Across the school, the children had a wonderful opportunity to talk to David Hopkins from Kent Fire and Rescue Education Team. He tailored chats with each phase and answered children’s questions.

Some of the key facts children took away from today included:

  • Testing your fire alarms every week (not including when we burn the food)
  • Ensure you talk about 999 as an emergency number.
  • Recognise the different roles in the fire brigade and what those roles entailed.
  • Explaining about the dangers of having electrical items on over night.

Some of the children said “I liked learning about how to announce a fire by shouting FIRE FIRE really loud so everyone knows.”
“I really liked the games we played like guess what the most important job and guess what it is…testing your smoke alarm.”
Children were respectful and engaged in the wonderful presentations and are looking forward to valuable discussions about fire safety moving forward.
