On Monday 27th February 59 children and 7 adults ventured to Warner Brothers Studio. It was a day we had anticipated for quite some time as Year 6 are currently studying the text âThe Philosopherâs Stoneâ by JK Rowling.
Our aim was to inspire the children to become: authors, designers, make-up artists, editors â the list is endless and really opened the childrenâs eyes to these career opportunities.
We wandered through the tour, stopping at the many displays and sets: from wigs, cloaks, wands and potions, to the Gryffindor Common Room, Gringotts Bank and more. We were awed at the large-scale model of Hogwarts Castle at the end of the tour, complete with firework display. When talking with the children, another firm favourite was being able to walk down Diagon Alley. The children are literally about to read Chapter 6 in the text named Diagon Alley. How great is it that we can now all picture the scene, the shops, the smells!
Lastly, we ended up in quite a magnificent gift shop â obviously a firm favourite for all the children! Some came home armed with butter-beer, others maybe a wand or a keepsake keyring.
One thing is for sure, this was an excellent trip enjoyed by all and a definite highlight of their time at Lordswood School!
