What a spectacular start to our residential trip! The energy was high from the moment we arrived at Bowles and the children wasted no time diving into the full experience. The day began with a true test of stamina as we tackled “The Hill” – hauling our bags up to the top before mastering the art of the fitted sheet to get our beds made. After working up a hearty appetite, we all gathered for a lovely jacket potato lunch to fuel up for the adventures ahead.
With lunch finished, it was officially activity time and our four teams headed out to showcase their skills. Team A (AKA Skibbidi Utd) took to the slopes for skiing, where they impressed the instructors with their incredible perseverance and sharp technique.
Meanwhile, Team B (AKA Team Baddies) trekked to Harrison’s Rocks for an adventure. They navigated the many nooks and crannies of the rocks—crawling, sliding and shimmering through tight spaces—while showing amazing teamwork and cheering each other on every step of the way.
In the water and on the field, Team C (AKA Under the C) tackled a series of team games and pool kayaking. They proved to be a fantastic group, displaying excellent listening skills and coordination throughout.
Not to be outdone, Team D (AKA The Lorax) spent their afternoon climbing and orienteering. They reached new heights with immense courage and used great determination and skill to navigate the winding paths of the site.
As the night began, we headed to the dining hall for a fabulous dinner of sausage and chips—a definite “yum” from everyone involved! We then spent the evening singing campfire songs, reflecting on a truly fantastic first day and enjoying a chapter of our English text: The Hunger Games. We are all incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and we can’t wait for a jam-packed day 2!
