Today Year 5 engrossed themselves in a trip to one of King Henry VIII’s most majestic residences, Hampton Court Palace.
In the Great Hall, we admired ginormous tapestries covering the walls and The Watchers loomed over us, reminding us to be on our best courtly behaviour at all times. We entered the Chapel where we saw King Henry VIII’s glistening crown, mirrored by the gleaming stars on the ceiling.
As we strolled through the luscious gardens, we appreciated the vivid aroma of the vibrant flowers. We enjoyed packed lunches in the sunny gardens and peered into the glorious fountain.
After lunch, we meandered into the kitchens where we stepped back in time to see how the King’s feasts were prepared on the spit over the fire.
We hopped over to our final destination, the Easter Bunny Trail which everyone could not resist! We found all 12 rabbits, who were named after King Henry VIII’s wives amongst other famous historic figures.
Thank you to all the staff members and volunteers who organised and joined us for this historical trip!
