Children from across the Medway Griffin Schools came together at Medway Park for a fantastic day of athletics, showcasing determination, teamwork and sporting excellence.
Representing Lordswood, Kingfisher and Saxon Way, Year 5 and Year 6 children competed in a wide range of track and field events throughout the day. The competition featured high jump, long jump, triple jump, discus, 50m and 100m sprint races, alongside a variety of other throwing and jumping events.
The atmosphere was full of enthusiasm as children encouraged one another, celebrated successes and challenged themselves to achieve their personal bests. Whether competing on the track or in the field events, every child demonstrated resilience, sportsmanship and a positive attitude.
After a closely contested competition, the final team standings were:
10th Place – Lordswood Hazel Class
9th Place – Saxon Way Shakespeare Class
8th Place – Saxon Way Mercury Class
7th Place – Kingfisher Year 5
6th Place – Saxon Way Hawkins Class
5th Place – Lordswood Juniper Class
4th Place – Lordswood Sycamore Class
3rd Place – Saxon Way Williams Class
2nd Place – Kingfisher Year 6
1st Place – Lordswood Maple Class
Congratulations to Lordswood Maple Class for securing first place and becoming this year’s overall champions. Well done also to Kingfisher Year 6 and Saxon Way Williams Class for their impressive second and third-place finishes.
Most importantly, congratulations to every child who took part. The event was a wonderful celebration of participation, perseverance and teamwork, and all competitors should be extremely proud of their efforts and achievements.
