Year 1 had a fantastic time on their trip to Rochester Castle and Cathedral today. We were very lucky with the weather — the rain held off just long enough for us to climb the steps of the castle! All of the children showed great courage as we reached the first level, and many of us even made it all the way to the top, taking in the impressive views.
Following our castle adventure, we headed over to Rochester Cathedral where we took part in an engaging interactive tour and a brilliant heraldry workshop. During our visit, we learnt all about the parts of the cathedral, how baptism works, and why shields were so important in battle. The children particularly enjoyed designing and creating their own shields, using symbols that represented their personalities and interests.
Throughout the day, the children demonstrated our Lordswood values beautifully and represented the school with pride, enthusiasm, and excellent behaviour. They should all feel incredibly proud of what they achieved today.
A big thank you to our amazing staff and volunteers who supported us and helped make the day such a success. We hope that everyone had a fanatic day!
