Lordswood School was positively buzzing today as we celebrated our annual Spelling Bee with a riot of yellow and black! The excitement was infectious right from the morning assembly, with scores of children arriving dressed in the official bee colours and many even sporting fantastic full bee costumes complete with antennae and wings. The effort put into the outfits truly brightened up the whole school, setting a wonderful, celebratory tone for the day ahead.
The sweetness continued into break time, where children had the chance to purchase a very special, beautifully decorated bee cake. These treats were an absolute hit and available for just 50p each. It was lovely to see so many happy faces enjoying their cakes and sharing in the festive atmosphere throughout the morning.
As the afternoon arrived, the focus shifted to the main event: the traditional Spelling Bee spell off. The hall was quiet with anticipation as our most skilled spellers took to the stage to test their vocabulary and memory. Round after round, the children displayed incredible confidence and concentration, tackling tricky words with poise and precision, proving how dedicated our young learners are to their English learning. It was a true joy to watch such impressive displays of language mastery.
The entire event, from the colourful costumes to the thrilling final spell off, was a resounding success and everyone agreed: It was an un’bee’lievable day. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Mrs Boughton and Mr Matthews for their incredible organisation and dedication in making this day run so smoothly. A special thank you also goes to the Learning Ministry for their continued commitment to promoting English and supporting such brilliant events at our school.
