This week, Lordswood School was buzzing with energy as children from Nursery to Year 6 took part in our exciting, in-school Griffin Sports Festival. The children enjoyed an array of sporting activities, focusing on developing new skills and having fun!
A huge highlight of the week was the opportunity for children to learn from visiting coaches. They thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and picked up fantastic new skills. We extend a massive thank you to our incredible partners who gave up their time to give the children a taste of their sports:
- Kent Crusaders Basketball Club
- Strive PE and Sport
- Football Fun Factory
- Anderson School of Dance
- Katie B’s Tennis in the Park
Their expertise and enthusiasm helped make the week a rip-roaring sporting success and a truly exciting experience for all.
Beyond the practical activities, pupils also looked at crucial life skills. Throughout their PE lessons, children focused on the importance of leadership and teamwork.
They also learned about the STEP principle (Space, Task, Equipment, People), which helps them adapt activities to make them inclusive and challenging for everyone.
The entire festival week was carefully designed to encompass the 4 ‘Me’s, ensuring a holistic approach to well-being and development:
- Healthy Me: Focusing on physical fitness and good habits.
- Social Me: Developing teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.
- Physical Me: Enhancing physical skills and coordination.
- Cognitive Me: Encouraging children to think about tactics and problem-solve.
Thank you to all the staff and coaches involved in making this annual event such a memorable and successful celebration of sport and learning!
