GAF residential Day 3

By 26 June 2025No Comments

Our intrepid GAF adventurers spent the morning using Scratch to draw patterns (using angles and loops), then applying it to Microbit Pro robots that drew out their fantastic spirograph-style patterns. We then set out to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre for a tour and workshop. Along the way we took in some of the famous sights like St Paul’s Cathedral and Tower Bridge.

During our visit to the Globe, we got to watch rehearsals for this afternoon’s performance of The Crucible. Then we were whisked off to a drama studio to get our Montagues and Capulets on for a workshop on Romeo and Juliet. We picked out the key words from the prologue and discovered that it was far from just a love story- it was mostly violence and tragedy! We then acted out the thumb-biting scene and moved as a whole group, using body language to show anger and intimidation.

Our final event of the day, the GAF gala where we have been proudly showing off last night’s miniature artworks when we looked at programming a sewing machine to produce our earlier repeated patterns.
