Coronation celebrations

Today we had an amazing day of celebration in preparation for the King’s coronation. We did a variety of activities across the school and we were given a lovely little keepsake to mark this momentous occasion: our own coronation bear!

Nursery watched a video about London landmarks, made Union Jack paper chains, listened to a story called ‘The King’s Pants’, had a very royal snack and partied this afternoon. What fun!

Year R learnt the National Anthem, did research about the King and the Royal family and what to expect tomorrow. They wrote about the King in many different ways, baked cookies and finished off the day with a super party with lots and lots of food!

In Year 1 they made paper chains, watched a video about the Royal family and completed portraits of King Charles by filling in the missing half – very tricky. Finally we had our cake party, enjoyed the sunshine and spent time together. What a lovely day!

Year 2 learnt a coronation song for the King, wrote about what we would change if we were the King or Queen for the day, made yummy pizzas and enjoyed a royal cake party!

Year 3 wrote about being King or Queen for the day, created coronation collages and had a tremendous party with karaoke!

Year 4 wrote cards of congratulations, had a picture with King Charles and had a spectacular celebration with playtime this afternoon!

Year 5 baked delicious crown biscuits, had a magnificent party, enjoyed the sunshine and generally had a chilled out fun day!

Year 6 enjoyed the whole school assembly, led by Mrs Lusinski, about the King’s coronation. They enjoyed a scrummy pizza party in the afternoon and spent time enjoying the sunshine!

What an excellent day had by all!
