As my twelve years as Head at Lordswood draw to a close, I wanted to take a moment to write to you all and express my heartfelt thanks.
Over the past few weeks—and especially during the final few days—I have been completely overwhelmed by your incredible generosity. The beautiful cards, thoughtful gifts, stunning flowers and heartfelt messages I have received from so many of you have touched me more than words can say. Reading your kind memories and well wishes has been both humbling and deeply moving. One moment that I will treasure forever was the incredible surprise on the school field, when so many families came together to present me with such wonderful gifts. I was completely overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. It was a truly touching tribute, one that I could never have expected, and one that perfectly reflected the warmth, love and sense of community that makes Lordswood so very special. It is a memory that will stay with me always. The children and staff have also made my final days truly unforgettable. Their love, kindness and thoughtfulness, from the wonderful farewell assembly filled with songs and poems to the countless smiles, hugs and special moments we have shared, have created memories that I will treasure forever.
When I first arrived at Lordswood over twelve years ago, I knew it was a special school. What I could not have fully appreciated then was just how extraordinary this community would prove to be. It is you—our wonderful children, families and staff—who make Lordswood such a remarkable place. Thank you for your trust, your partnership and your unwavering support over the years. Thank you for standing on the sidelines in all weathers to cheer at Sports Days, filling the hall for Christmas performances, volunteering at events and even getting covered in paint to make this year’s Colour Run such a joyful success. These moments are what make a school community so special. A school can only truly flourish when families and staff work together, and I could not have asked for a warmer, more supportive or more dedicated community. It has been a privilege to work alongside you in helping your children learn, grow and thrive.
Although I am now stepping away to enjoy retirement, I do so with a heart full of wonderful memories, immense pride and enormous gratitude. I know that Lordswood will continue to flourish under the leadership of its talented team and I look forward to watching the school continue to go from strength to strength.
Thank you once again for your kindness, your generosity and for making my twelve years at Lordswood so incredibly rewarding. It has been the greatest honour and privilege to serve as Head. I wish each and every one of you a wonderful, restful and happy summer break and every success and happiness for the future.
